Ever since childhood, I have enjoyed working with timber – working in a family friend’s workshop in Llanboidy making small pieces for my family, then studying further in school, before taking an opportunity to work with Barry and completing my apprenticeship in Furniture.
I have also worked in the Heritage and Conservation fields, working with McCurdy and Co. in Berkshire, carrying out structural and decorative repairs to listed historical buildings, and playing a major role in the construction of the second Globe Theatre in London, based on plans drawn up by Inigo Jones in the late 1600s. I am listed as a member of the Traditional Building Network, having studied pre 1919 methods of carpentry and joinery in Britain, their conservation, repair and construction.
Living in South West Wales, where there is a large proportion of beautiful buildings and stunning countryside, I really enjoy creating furniture that can compliment the original features of peoples houses. I have always been interested in design, and the kitchen is often the most important room in the house, able to create a sense of warmth and security, whilst providing pleasure through considered function and quality.
